What is a dental bridge?

16 March 2018

At Finest Dental we offer a range of cosmetic solutions for patients concerned with missing teeth.  Having missing teeth can severely affect a person’s confidence, eating habits and, in some cases, may cause problems with speech. Gaps caused by missing teeth can be filled with a dental bridge.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a prosthetic tooth, expertly crafted from porcelain, and used to replace any missing teeth. The bridge is attached to the adjacent natural teeth, which are used as anchors.

Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease, improve your bite and speech, and can help to increase your confidence.

Will it look natural?

The aim is to always have your bridge match your natural teeth. Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and gums in order to craft your bridge to coincide with the shape, colour and length of your remaining teeth.  The appearance of your smile will be greatly improved and your teeth will feel stronger after the procedure.

How long will it take to fit?

Fitting a bridge will take at least two visits to your dentist.  During your first appointment your dentist will discuss the procedure with you, then take a mould of your teeth and finalise with any preparatory work on the adjacent teeth.

Once we have created your custom bridge, we will then call you in for your second appointment. During this visit, your bridge will be fitted and adjusted to ensure a correct bite.
